How long does a headlight restoration take?
In most cases, a headlight restoration can be completed in one hour or less. The clear protective coating applied to the lens should cure for one additional hour, so please allow two hours for your appointment. Full cure takes about one day so please do not wash or wax your vehicle for 24 hours after your appointment.
What causes headlights to deteriorate?
Most new headlights are made of polycarbonate rather than glass. While there are advantages of using polycarbonate, there is also one major drawback. Over time pollution, humidity, acid rain, cleaning chemicals, salt, road debris and sunlight all contribute to the oxidation of the protective coating placed on the lens by the manufacturer. In extreme cases, the oxidation will completely deteriorate the original protective coating and damage the surface of the lens itself.
